Objective

My main goal for this assignment was to further my user experience (UX) knowledge, especially in user personas. My previous understanding of UX felt somewhat sporadic, like was picture was missing pieces of its puzzle. Prior research into UX taught me what UX means. The UX/UI internship I completed showed me how they operated using the agile work method and strengthened my knowledge of UX digital tools like Figma and Adobe Creative Suite. If I hope to enter the UX field, I need to grasp the full picture. The LinkedIn learning path “Explore A Career in User Experience” gave me the final pieces to finish my puzzle picture. I now can confidently say I understand the entire process of a UX design and how to create a user persona.

Learning Process

The LinkedIn learning path “Explore A Career in User Experience” consists of several courses. First, there is “Planning a Career in User Experience.” The course was uninteresting and basic, though it introduced field names I never knew before, like service design. I focused more of my time on the main UX Design course videos taught by Chris Nodder, a UX professional. While watching Nodder’s videos, I took notes on information that was new or stood out to me. There were additional courses in the learning path, “Sketching for UX Designers” and “Interaction Design,” but I didn’t have enough time to finish these.

Deliverable

I wanted to create two realistic personas for my deliverable as a portfolio piece. However, I learned that UX designers create personas after gathering data from user research. Since I didn’t have the time or resources to collect data, I pulled from my creative writing skills and my imagination to brainstorm something. My personas are recruiters who may review my portfolio website. I built them in FigmaJam, a white boarding tool commonly used my UX professionals. The personas are probably not as representative as personas supported with research; however, it was good practice. Now, I have the skill to create personas in a UX job.
